Step 1. Surface Preparation

The 4x8 pvc foam board surface to be painted must be clean, dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion and application of the materials and coatings to be applied.

Remove loose and failing material through scraping or brushing with a stiff bristle brush to a sound edge, feathering this with a fine grade abrasive paper.

All visible signs of organic growth should be removed and the areas treated with Zinsser Mould Killer & Remover, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, allowing to dry.

Step 2. Priming
Now the surface has been suitably prepared, remove any remaining contaminants along with anything that could interfere with adhesion and then degrease overall with methylated spirit, making sure to frequently change the cloth.

Prime overall with one full coat of Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and, in normal drying conditions, allow a minimum drying time of 1 hour.

Step 3. Decoration
The primed surface can now be decorated in one of 350 colours:

For interior projects, use two full coats of Zinsser Perma-White Interior in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and allow a minimum drying time of two hours between coats.

For exterior projects two full coats of Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin/Gloss can be used, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, allowing a minimum of one hour between coats to dry.
