Is drinking water mineral water?

Mineral water is drinking water that has mineral salts of potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, sulphates, and iodides that fulfil the human body's need for water and provide the necessary amount of minerals to keep the body hydrated while maintaining the optimum electrolyte level. The Food and Drug Administration in the US classifies mineral water as clean and treated water that has at least 250 mg/l of dissolved mineral salts. Europe defines mineral water as the water collected from the source of rich minerals dissolved in water. These places are mostly up in the hilly and mountainous, and deeply forested regions. However, it is not practically possible to commercially produce authentic minerals by collecting it from the source and then organizing a massive logistical network to transport them to homes and markets.

Bisleri can be termed as authentic mineral water as mineral salts are artificially added, and the 4 stage treatment process purifies the water by removing undesirable toxic wastes and chemicals and then artificially adds the right combination of minerals and then follows it up by as many as 114 different tests to ensure that the mineral water is the best nutrient and not just a beverage.

The importance of mineral water is so much that it is a precious lifeline and serves to keep animals healthy and hydrated. Life without water cannot even be imagined, and the first search for extraterrestrial life on other planets and worlds begins with the search for water. If water is found, the chances of finding extraterrestrial life are high.

Here is a list of important uses of mineral water that emphasizes the importance of mineral water in the lives of animals, including humans and also plants. Mineral water does not just mean bottled and packaged drinking water that contains dissolved minerals but water from naturally occurring streams, springs and rivulets with dissolved organic matter and mineral salts

  • The bodies of most living organisms are primarily water-based, and sufficient consumption of water is required to keep the body healthy and hydrated. Insufficient consumption of mineral water causes dehydration, leading to more serious ailments such as kidney failure, swelling in the brain and seizures.
  • Water is a medium in which enzymes, blood, plasma, and other bodily fluids form and protect the body. Even minerals enter the body through the medium of mineral water.
  • Water helps regulate temperature in plants, human beings and animals. Humans and some animals cooldown by perspiration and plants by transpiration.
  • Mineral Water can move by capillary action without any necessary pressure or pumping. This water property helps it flow through bodies and plants and maintain that healthy balance.
  • Water is an important ingredient of saliva which helps break down food, initiating the process of digestion. Water is also necessary for facilitating the excretion of body wastes, and insufficient consumption of mineral water puts a strain on the kidneys, and this is one of the major reasons for kidney stones.
  • Water is required both for preparing as well as cooking food. All basic human activities of cleaning, washing and bathing require water.
  • Regular consumption of mineral water over other treated methods of water purification such as RO (reverse osmosis) and water treated by filtration and by ultraviolet treatment. This treatment may be healthier but lacks insufficient dissolved minerals.
  • The importance of mineral water increases several times when it is realized that mineral water is an excellent solvent and is basically the medium by which nutrients and mineral salts find their way into the body.

Water water everywhere

Water may be everywhere, but good mineral water is precious. Natural sources are diminishing and getting increasingly contaminated. The importance of mineral water is in its balanced benefit for the human body and its purified state.
