Traditional Italian luxury gets a modern update at this lakeside boutique hotel's 18 guest suites.

If you're looking for a hotel that's both luxurious and comfortable, it might be almost hard to find one that strikes the right balance between the two. Villa Lario, on the other hand, will change your mind.

During a solo journey to Italy in 2021, I first encountered the 18-suite boutique hotel. To further solidify its position in the famous luxury scene around Lake Como, the hotel has recently opened eight additional suites.

We realized that the resort was exceptional dordle after only a few hours, thanks to its panoramic view, elegant decor, ingredient-driven food and laid-back environment. The conclusion of my three-night stay at this lovely retreat made me pledge myself that I would return. In other words, I returned in May of this year, a little over a year after my first visit.

When I brought my boyfriend, I was a little afraid that all of my rants and raves would cause him to have unrealistic expectations of the experience. In fact, he thought it was much better than I had imagined, saying that it's difficult to express the sensation you get when you combine luxurious conveniences with a friendly ambiance without having experienced it yourself.

However, describing the hotel's most notable features may be a little simpler. On Italy's iconic Lake Como, Villa Lario is a must-see destination.

Buildings and Design

In the 19th century, the villa consisted of four separate structures, each with its own unique character and charms. Il Palazzo, the biggest, was the first to reveal its new look barely a year ago. In my opinion, this newly renovated area is the heart of the hotel since it combines the best of both worlds: historic Italian architecture and contemporary luxury services.

Additional features include a big fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows that open into the lake, and a large lakeside patio for aperitivos, all of which are included in the price of the suites. Because many of the materials and furniture utilized in the remodeling were acquired from Italian craftsmen, the old and the modern blend flawlessly. I particularly like the mosaic floor built by Fantini Mosaici in Milan, which is based on the lake's reflections.

Food that is centered on the individual ingredients

Do you ever see menus separated down into appetizers, main dishes and dessert options?? There are a plethora of different options, but this is the most prevalent. Ingredients are the focus of Villa Lario's food.

Five ingredients from different areas of Italy are selected by the chef and his staff for each season. All three meals may be served as an appetizer or an entrée, depending on what you choose.

Mais biancoperla (a white maize used to produce polenta) from the northern area of Veneto was one of the components utilized on my most recent visit. Polenta gnocchi with baby squid and asparagus, as well as a pork loin with polenta and bok choy, were two recipes that included mais. Each dish on the menu is meant to give customers a new perspective on a traditional Italian ingredient.
