Like the day
That melts through the night,
Under the watchful eyes of time,
You dawned on me.
And time knew we won't feel the need to rush,
For beyond labels, beyond pretensions
And beyond every social tie,
There blooms a certain flower
That had blended us in its modest dye.
Never was their total silence
Nor did ever any storm cry
But what prevailed between me and you
Was an echo
Of wind slithering through the leaves
At night.
So even if this day might come to an end
And tomorrow parts us
On our two separate lines
Know this, oh pilgrim friend of mine
Time will hold us together forever
In its memories of days gone by.
