Major announcements for certain of Blizzard's
Blizzard's announcement of a PTR on Diablo: Resurrected seems to D2R Ladder Items indicate that additional adjustments and updates are in the works. There is no word on what date the PTR will launch, but Blizzard confirms that everyone will be able to play. The initial focus of the PTR will be fixing persistent server and database issues that have plagued the game from it's release. After that, Blizzard writes that they will "share more details on Ladder rank play, and additional new features coming to Diablo: Resurrected."
Patch 2.3 is currently scheduled to be released by the end of December. Also in Diablo news, Diablo IV, which has no release date yet, is set to launch more late than anticipated. This comes amid the ongoing aftermath of various lawsuits and investigations into allegations of discrimination against women and sexual harassment on the part of Activision Blizzard.
Without BlizzCon (or BlizzConline) this year, players of games such as World of Warcraft, Diablo and Diablo are wondering when more announcements on the future of each game will be made. According to Blizzard leader Mike Ybarra, updates on what's to come for those franchises will be announced "over the coming weeks."
The update comes in the shape of a tweet, itself responding to a fan comment made on the news that Blizzard has hired for a survival game set in a different universe. A fan tweeted that Blizzard may want to "throw some people" at Blizzard's existing games, to which Ybarra had this to say:
Blizzard is a big studio and has an impressive and growing team that supports live games as well. In the coming weeks, you'll be hearing more on these games from Warcraft and Diablo. Diablo will be following. Stay tuned!
Major announcements for certain of Blizzard's most popular franchises such as World of Warcraft and Diablo usually take place at BlizzCon which typically takes place in November. The COVID-19 virus has thrown a wrench into the system. Blizzard transitioned to an online BlizzCon event scheduled for February 2021. The company had planned to host an identical online event in Buy D2R Ladder Items February 2022. BlizzCon 2022 was later pulled amid ongoing controversy over numerous discrimination and sexual harassment cases and investigations related to Activision Blizzard.
