Up to now, I have been making an electric bicycle for nearly ten years. A few years ago, I created this website to freely share my accumulated knowledge. One of the most frequently asked questions is about recommendations for specific components.

You can think of thousands of e bike accessories, so it's hard for me to make a detailed list. On the contrary, what I should do is to list the parts of the electric bicycle that I use most often below, and I usually recommend them to others. Some of them I have written full comments, while others I plan to write more.

For this list, I will try to reduce its wordiness and pay more attention to links and images. Moreover, most of the suppliers I know are either in North America or in China. If you don't live in North America, the Chinese may be more helpful to you. I have bought things in both places. I would like to give two examples.

Electric bicycle motor:

There are many motors on the market, but these are my favorites. For a fairly standard but powerful 48V 1000W electric bicycle, I like to use a 9c clone style gearless motor, like the one of Congismotor, which also includes controllers, electronic brakes, etc. - basically everything you need except batteries.

For a real 9C motor, I recommend using Grin Technology (AKA ebikes. ca) located in Canada.

I recommend ebike for smaller gearmotors within the 500W range. Here is ca's Ezee suite.

If you are not in North America, but still want a gear motor kit, this is a pretty good price. For only $400, you can own a fully equipped electric bicycle. This is not the most powerful equipment, but it is certainly suitable for cruising in the city.

For a more powerful electric bicycle, Kinaye Motor Sports is a great source in the United States, MXUS 3000W motor and all other bits (controller, accelerator, etc.) that you will need. If you are not in the United States, you can buy MXUS 3000w motors from Chinese suppliers.

BBS02 is an amazing medium drive motor. Its power is up to 750W, but the real peak power is about 1000W. One of the most favorable prices I have ever seen is here, and you can buy more from EM3EV, a great electric bicycle supplier in China. But if you prefer to buy in the United States, a very reliable and useful supplier is California Ebike.

Bafang released a higher power version of BBS02, called BBSHD, with a peak power of about 1500 watts. I bought one here, but the best price I have found so far is here. Although the price changes frequently, the market will fluctuate.

Electric bicycle battery:

Batteries are a bit difficult because there are 1.5 million options. Usually I assemble the battery of an electric bicycle myself, but when I buy the battery, I use some sources: The EM3EV has a wide range of battery options, they are built in plastic housings, triangular or standard rectangular bricks. These bags are of good quality.

However, in order to get a better price, I sometimes use the battery of Sumitong. I bought some excellent batteries there, and found some batteries with poor quality, so I will only link to those worthy batteries.

I used this 36V 10AH battery for a customer who just wanted to replace the battery for the standard seat tube battery. This is a 48V 30AH triangle bag with huge capacity. The price is something you will never find in the United States. You can ride this battery for days or weeks without recharging it, depending on your commute.

If this is too much for you, it is also a good 48V 20AH triangle bag made of Samsung batteries.
