iPad 8 (2020) vs. Apple iPad 9 (2021): design

The design of the two iPads isn’t one of the many differences between them, despite there being many. In fact, they are almost visually identical. The iPad 9 keeps the physical Home button, solid bezel, and aluminium body from the iPad 8.(something that wasn't included in the iPad Mini 6 that was just released).

Additionally, there are no additional colour possibilities; Silver and Space Grey are still the only options. Quite dull? Maybe, but if you’re doing a direct upgrade, your old accessories will at least still function. The colours won’t clash either.

iPad 8 (2020) vs. Apple iPad 9 (2021): screen

The 10.2-inch retina display we know and love, with a resolution of 2160 x 1620 pixels, pixel density of 264ppi, and brightness of 500 nits, is the identical screen on both devices. True Tone technology, however, is exclusive to the iPad 9.This changes the screen’s colour to match your surroundings, making it easier on the eyes. In order to prevent retinal damage when you’re in a dark environment, the screen will switch to warmer tones. An ambient light sensor is used to do this.

It’s hardly brand-new technology; the iPhone and higher-end iPads have utilised it for years. But it is certainly good to see it extend to the basic iPad. And the iPad 9 wins this round thanks to its presence.

iPad 8 (2020) vs. Apple iPad 9 (2021): power

Additionally, the iPad 2021 (9th Gen) has more computing power. The A13 Bionic chipset, which is more modern than the A12 Bionic featured in the iPad 8, is one of its highlights. The iPhone SE also features the A13 Bionic. (2020).

Everything you do on the new iPad should go more quickly because, in Apple’s estimation, the iPad 9 is 20ster than the iPad 8 in terms of both GPU and CPU speed. Additionally, it should enhance Live Text performance, which will be especially helpful if you intend to use the brand-new iPadOS function that reads text from images.

cameras in the Apple iPad 9 (2021) vs. iPad 8 (2020)

Tablet cameras were always a kind of an afterthought, but now that we all rely on Zoom, they’re more crucial than ever. Apple gave the iPad 9 a considerably superior front-facing camera than the iPad 8 in acknowledgement of this fact. The iPad 8’s 1.2-megapixel front camera’s 12-megapixel ultra-wide counterpart boasts ten times as many pixels and produces marginally higher-resolution recordings. (1080p compared to 720p). which ought to result in significantly sharper video calls.

If you’re taking a group selfie or making business calls from your kitchen, you’ll be able to fit a lot more in the frame thanks to the ultra-wide lens. Better sanitise the counters.

The iPad 9 is a little bit lighter than the iPad 8, yet they both have the exact same proportions. (487g to 490g for the Wi-Fi model).

The battery life is still 10 hours for watching videos and browsing the web while connected to WiFi, or 9 hours when using cellular data. The iPad 9 has the option of recording videos at 25 frames per second instead of the iPad 8’s 30 frames per second, but both devices’ rear cameras have an 8-megapixel resolution.
