Government of Nepal has made the list of Public holidays in Nepal for 2076 BS(2019-2020 AD). Entire Nepal will have only 15 days of public holiday. This year government reduces public holidays to 84 days including public holidays proposed for particular religion, community and region with Saturday (of 52 days). The government offices would open more days in the year 2076 compared to 2075 BS. However, the government has also decided to grant holidays to specific groups of people during festivals unique to their cultures.

 

1) FESTIVAL HOLIDAYS IN 2076 BS

  1. Baishakh 1, Sunday: Nepali New Year 2076
  2. Falgun 9, Friday: Maha Shivaratri
  3. Falgun 26, Monday: Fagu Purnima: (58 Districts of Pahadi & Bhitri Madhesh). 
  4. Falgun 27, Tuesday: Fagu Purnima (19 Districts of Tarai)

2) PUBLIC HOLIDAYS PROPOSED FOR PARTICULAR RELIGION, COMMUNITY AND REGION.

  1. Jestha 4, Saturday: Ubhauli Parva Festival (Chandi Purnima) of Kirat, Rai, Limbu
  2. Bhadra 6, Friday: Gaura Festival
  3. Eid for people following Muslim Religion (Eid al-Fitr)
  4. Kartik 16 Saturday: Chhath Festival
  5. Bakar Eid for people following Muslim Religion
  6. Mangsir 26, Thursday: Udhaulai Festival, Yomari Punhi-Jyapu Diwas, (Mangsir Purnima, Dhanya Purnima) Christmas Day for people following Christian religion
  7. Poush 15, Tuesday: Tamu Lhosar
  8. Magh 1, Wednesday: Maghe Sakranti and Maghi Festival
  9. Magh 11, Saturday: Sonam Lhosar
