What is Macro Photography?

Origin Of Macro Photography:-

Percy Smith was the first Macro photographer, known for his close-up photographs In 1880. Later, In 1909, he even made his first short close-up film "To Demonstrate How Spiders Fly" on Spiders and "The Acrobatic Fly" In 1910 on Housefly. He made almost fifty nature films for the Urban Sciences series, after joining to the Charles Urban Trading Company. 

Magnification:- Those who have used magnifying glass have known that lens are used to magnify object. The longer the lens the more it magnifies the picture. Long focal lengths increasing the size of the image and vice versa.

Tips to capture better pictures Of macro photography:-

  • Choose correct Macro camera Lens:- Buy some good 1:1 magnification camera lens. If you want high-quality pictures, you need to invest in some good camera lenses.
  • Stay Stable:- To get the good images your subject and camera needs to be steady Or else your focal point might get changed. Steadiness of both is important to get the right images. Try to use Tripod to reduce shakiness of the camera. 
  • Field's Depth:- Whenever it's about Macro photography always think about the depth of field. Small subjects requires smaller depth of field. As we know, if the background is bigger or smaller, the image might get blurred. Either it will get farther away or way too close to the focal point, which end up getting blurry image.  
  • Lighting:- Natural light is considered as the best light for photography. If there is dark background then you can use ring flashes to capture the close pictures. You can also use flash diffuser which softens and spreads the light in bigger scale. Flash diffusers gave natural lighting effect into the picture that is why it is highly used as well. You also make your own homemade flash diffuser using white Styrofoam.
  • Take lots of shots:- The more you take shots, you will get the idea at which angle the image turns out perfect. Also as you are taking lots of shots, you have more options to choose the best picture.

  • Travel:- You don't need to worry about travelling all the time. As these organisms are everywhere. Capture pictures of them even at your own garden, park, College anywhere.

  • Subject changes:- As surroundings is not same in all four seasons, your subject gets change. You can take many pictures in your same area, in different seasons, in new fields.
