Whether you're crafting, respeccing, buying raid materials, or just playing the economy, gold making is a time honored tradition amongst WoW players. As Classic has started everyone over with a fresh economy, divorced from the millions of gold they might have saved up through several expansions worth of content, many players are left looking for the best ways of making their fortune... or just trying to get an epic mount as quickly as possible! We have several guides which cover various ways of making money in Classic WoW, no matter your focus.

Choose the suitable Professions for farming gold

Professions have always been the best way to make gold. However it is a slightly more difficult part of gold making to execute with Legion's changes to professions. We have yet to see how Battle For Azeroth will affect this specific area of gold making. For example, in Legion herbs were very hard to get and VERY expensive as well as flasks, potions, and pretty much everything. This is a cooking vendor recipe for farming more gold in wow classic.

Just remember, in every main profession there is profit so try not to go bouncing around from profession to profession. Select your professions and don't get discouraged if they seem to be highly nerfed or extremely boring. Professions change every expansion, and frequently changes or made mid-expansion so don't fret, there's some gold everywhere.

Treat Your Profession Like A Business

Perhaps the best and most secure way to make money within the game is to apply some basic business practice to your Professions. While some of these tips are common sense and common knowledge, it can't hurt to be reminded of basic principles of trade.

As previously stated, people will only buy your wares if they want it. Do not waste time gathering or producing items that people do not need. Focus on items that will most likely be wanted and bought.

Profit is only created if you make sure your costs are less than your earnings.

Understand what kind of players need what kind of items. For example, Leatherworkers making Leather armor should focus on items with stats that only druids, hunters, rogues, and shamans would want. Demand is mostly built on the need of players.

Some recipes produce items with random attributes. While random, it is not necessarily too risky to craft these items in hopes of getting something good.

Many players, even the experienced ones, will base the power and worth of an item on its rarity. As such, Rare items are more likely to sell than Uncommons. Focus on trying to put these items together where possible and profitable.

Similarly, item sets also quickly attract the eyes of buyers. Even some of the older pre-BC and pre-WotLK items whose bonuses are outclassed by newer items from BC will still find demand simply because most people are natural collectors. Try it when you can.

Tips for selling in Auction House:

The auction house is the main way to make gold. No it does not provide gold quickly but it does provides a steady stream of gold every day. The auction house is very helpful if you want to save up for something, want to hit the gold cap, or simply have something incredibly valuable in your bags and want to sell it for as much as possible.

Set a buyout price. You will usually get a better price, and sell more often and more quickly. People shopping at the auction house are typically in a want-it-now situation and do not want to wait for 8+ hours to get it; they tend to buy out auctions instead of bidding and waiting. So set the buyout price as the price you'll expect to get for your item.

That being said, consider setting a starting bid at substantially lower than the buyout pride. Not so low that you'll be losing money, but low enough to tempt potential buyers who are willing to wait. Remember that once you get a bid on the auction there must be a sale.

Remember that buyers can't split up stacks, so break up your stacks into convenient sizes. If the item is expensive, and is only used in a few recipes, and only a few are needed, selling in small lots may work better. If, for example, a common recipe uses four of the item, then sell in stacks of four or multiples of four. A stack size of one can be good, because it lets the buyers select as many as they need and not buy excess. But if you expect to sell more than a few of the item then make bigger stacks so buyers don't have to make so many bids. Consider discounting the unit price on large or odd sized stacks to get a faster sale.

If you have an item which isn't selling well then try lowering the price to increase demand. It's generally better to sell the item for less money, but actually get that money, than to hang on it indefinitely hoping for more.
