In an interview during an interview with P2Pah, WoW production director Pat Dawson wouldn't say. Usually, when you get the first content update for WoTLK Gold an expansion is released, players already know what the next expansion is due the announcement made earlier and the accompanying cinematic that Blizzard has rolled out at its every year BlizzCon event. BlizzCon however, isn't going to be this year likely due to several reasons, ranging from the COVID-19 cholera epidemic to ongoing discrimination and sexual harassment investigations. There are no future expansion announcements that have been announced. This leaves a huge open question about the patch 9.2 and the end in the Shadowlands story.

For the first time in a very long time the players will be stepping into the final battle of an expansion with no idea of what's to come and also in relation to how the boss battles play out and how the story will take place.

"People don't know the details and they haven't heard the story," Dawson said when asked if the conclusion of the latest Sepulcher of the First Ones raid would provide players with a clear idea of what the next expansion is going to be. "They don't really know what's going to occur. It's quite a fascinating moment. In the future, we're constantly working on new ideas. I think right now we're very focused on the conclusion of this story and giving satisfying ending for the jailer."

While a significant portion of the planned raid has been analyzed, combed through, and playtested by the WoW community in the game's public test realm The players will go fully green to fight the final three bosses.

"They haven't been on the PTR, there aren't a lot of mods written for it, or strategies put into writing," Dawson said. "People don't know exactly what they're going to cheap WoTLK Gold encounter. There's some adventure and exploration ahead for the end of this mission."
