Diablo IV will be missing one key element when it launches. This will completely change the game strategy of previous games.

After many years, Diablo returns with the fourth entry in the series. From the very beginning, information about the game made it very clear that it would depart from the tradition of its predecessors. Quite frankly, Blizzard is going to set a new standard for modern open world concepts, and that's not the only major change they've made.

No fixed items on game launch
Let it sink in a little. I can hear old Diablo fans screaming at this news. Sorry, set items will indeed not be part of Diablo IV as it launches in June.

That doesn't mean they're gone forever. While we won't see green text pop up at the start, set items should appear over the life of the game.

Diablo IV game director Joe Shely explained in an interview that we'll be getting our special green items later. Because they want to get them just right, the development team needs more time. So they just won't be ready for the game's release.

Hopefully this means that when we finally get items, balance won't be too much of an issue. While set items were seriously missed during Diablo IV's launch, perhaps this will give other Diablo 4 items a chance to shine.
