What is worth seeing in Dubai? 25+ attractions you should not miss while exploring Dubai

I based my sightseeing in Dubai on visiting other districts of the city. Set aside at least one day to visit each district . So that you do not have to spend too much time on unnecessary commuting, I have grouped the attractions according to the main districts of Dubai :

  • Dubai Marina and the artificial island Palm Jumeirah ,
  • Jumeirah i Umm Suqeim,
  • Downtown Dubai with Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall,
  • Bur Dubai with the atmosphere of old Dubai,
  • Deira across Dubai Creek.

I associated Dubai with modernity, but not all districts are filled with skyscrapers . Together, we will get to know the atmosphere of each of Dubai's districts so that you can decide which one you like the most. So, let's take a look at the places worth seeing in Dubai!

1. Dubai Marina and The Palm Jumeirah artificial island

Dubai Marina is one of the most south-western districts of the city. The district was built around the canal of the same name, serving as a harbor for numerous boats belonging to the inhabitants of Dubai. Many visitors to Dubai find Dubai Marina to be one of the city's best areas for tourists.

How to get to Dubai Marina? Take the Red Subway Line to Jumeirah Beach Towers Station or DAMAC Properties. Both metro stations allow you to change to the tram (Dubai Tram), the route of which goes around the marina.

JBR Open Beach with camels

Dubai Marina is well connected with the rest of the city - the red metro line and the only tram in the city run here . By changing to it from the subway, you can easily reach the beach and the marina area. Transfer is possible at Jumeirah Lakes Towers and DAMAC Properties stations.

The marina is often the place of choice among the wealthier population flocking to Dubai. Apartments are intertwined here with office buildings, of course, the higher the better. The marina itself is a ditch in the form of an approx. 3-kilometre-long canal.

The Walk and JBR Open Beach

While in a non-pedestrian city, you'll appreciate The Walk , a two-kilometer boardwalk that runs parallel to the city's JBR Open Beach . You'll feel like you're in a Western European city as you wander past the shops and restaurants and head to the beach.

The beach is approx. 1 km long and well maintained. As the place of my first contact with the hot waters of the Persian Gulf, it stuck in my memory very positively. It is worth coming here in the morning or late in the evening - in the middle of the day the temperature becomes simply unbearable.

Palm Jumeirah Island

The district's ambassador to the world is the palm-shaped artificial island - Palm Jumeirah . The core of Palm Jumeirah is almost 2 kilometers long , and the island consists of 16 palm arms. Around it, a circular belt with a length of 11 kilometers was created, which protects the island from the waves. The rise of the palm island doubled the length of Dubai's coastline.

How about  a yacht cruise from Dubai Marina Experience Dubai from a unique perspective on a 3-hour luxury yacht tour. Skyscrapers and the Persian Gulf look fabulous especially during sunset.

Sheikh Al Zayed Road overpass

Hotels and villas have been built on the Palm Jumeirah, the largest building being the luxury hotel Atlantis The Palm . You can reach the island by an unmanned cable car . There is also an Aquaventure Water Park on The Palm Jumeirah . Its must-see attraction is the Leap of Faith , which is a slide over 25 meters high.

Lovers of beautiful plants and Instagram frames should visit Miracle Garden. Garden of Miracles in Dubai - the largest garden of flowers in the world - there are as many as 45 million of them ! One of the highlights is the flower-covered, full-size Airbus A380 .

Palm Jumeirah is the first of several planned artificial islands in the city. However, the island is struggling with flooding problems. It is said that its level decreases by 5 mm every year. The developer responsible for its construction, however, assures that it does not threaten the future of the island.

If you are looking for accommodation in the Dubai Marina district, check out the apartments managed by Hubert with podrozezhubertem.pl - you can find the full offer on the dedicated website . In addition to the high standard, you can also count on a Polish-language booking service. Guests appreciate them for their high standard, nice view from the window and good price.

2. Umm Suqeim i Jumeirah

The city district is directly adjacent to Dubai Marina and includes the city's largest beaches. The farther from the shoreline, the less luxurious the buildings become, giving priority to low-rise residential buildings. In the Umm Suqeim district you will find one of Dubai's symbols - the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Hotel , one of the world's most luxurious hotels and a popular Dubai attraction.

How to get to Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah? Take the Red Metro Line to Dubai Internet City Station, then take the X28 bus towards Lulu Village. We get off at the Burj Al Arab Hotel stop.

Communication with the rest of the city is provided by the red metro line, but it runs so far from the coast that in order to reach the beaches, we must additionally use a city bus or taxi. The Madinat Jumeirah shopping, service and residential complex is right next door . In Jumeirah we will find the only mosque in the city open to non-Muslims - Jumeirah Mosque .

Madinat Jumeirah

Madinat Jumeirah is a complex of buildings and a system of canals imitating a former Arab settlement . This creation is an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of old Arabian markets filled with goods from many corners of the world in the center of modern Dubai.

Near Madinat Jumeirah there is a huge shopping center - Mall of the Emirates with an unusual attraction for the Middle East. There is... the Ski Dubai indoor ski slope . It is the largest indoor ski slope in the world.

The interior of the bazaar, however, made a rather indifferent impression on me. The stalls are sparkling new, the surroundings are immaculately clean, and every few steps we can find signposts leading to the next sectors of the bazaar.

The chance to get lost in the intricacies of the winding, narrow streets of Arabian souks, so alluring in Moroccan bazaars, has been almost completely eliminated. The complex also includes exclusive hotels, apartments and beaches dedicated to them.

Hotel Burj Al Arab

The streets and canals of the bazaar offer an interesting view of the Burj Al Arab hotel . The place attracts with its picturesqueness and historical, Arabian architecture. Built in 1999, the Burj Al Arab (Arabic for Tower of the Arabs) has become one of Dubai's standout construction projects. The sail-shaped building was erected on an island several hundred meters from the shoreline.

The interior of the hotel is unimaginably luxurious - so much so that the hotel quality assessment body decided that the amenities deserve a separate "lux" category, exceeding the standard of five stars.

A garage full of Rolls Royces, a helipad or apartments with an area of over 700 square meters say a lot about what we can expect from the Burj Al Arab. There are as many as 6 staff for one hotel guest. Price per night? Even over $20,000 .

Jumeirah Mosque (Jumeirah Mosque)

This part of the city is also home to the city's only Jumeirah Mosque, open to tourists . The mosque building is featured on the AED 500 note . As part of the paid admission to the mosque, we become a participant in the presentation conducted by employees of the foundation that takes care of the mosque. We get a chance to get to know both the charms of the building and the basic principles of Muslim culture.

Jumeirah Mosque

The fluent English-speaking guide talks about the five pillars of Islam , the way of life in accordance with Muslim laws, and the attitude of faith towards women. If Dubai is your first contact with a Muslim country, a 90-minute meeting will be an opportunity to understand at least a cursory understanding of the culture prevailing in such countries.

Modest dress is required in the mosque , covering the shoulders and ankles. Women must additionally cover their hair. Appropriate attire can be borrowed for free before entering the mosque. The guide is not afraid of inconvenient questions from guests and is extremely open - you just need to find the courage to publicly present your doubts.

No advance booking is required to enter the mosque. While waiting for the tour to start, you can enjoy Arabic coffee, tea and numerous snacks, available as part of the entrance fee.
